DLS

Short for Distributed Link Software it is a
hypermedia link service that can be used to
provide links for users on the
World Wide Web. In the same way that a
client connects to a
remoteWeb
server to access a document, DLS allows the client to connect to a
link server to request a set of links to apply to
the data in a document. The link service is mediated by the WWW in
HTTP messages, and implemented by CGI
processes located on Web servers.
Fusing WWW and Link Server Technology: One Approach This position paper explores how a fusion between distributed link data systems, as exemplified by the World-Wide Web (WWW), and link server systems, as exemplified by the Open Hypermedia Systems (OHS) community.
