dual monitor
Last modified: Friday, September 29, 2006
A computer system with more than one display connected. Dual monitor systems
consist of adding additional video adapters
(also called video cards) to it, or by using a single video card that has
multiple ports for monitors (called a dual head
card). The second display screen can be any display, such as a television,
projector, or monitor. Also called a multi-monitor.
Video Cards Describes the operation of the video card in general terms, and explains some basic concepts, including the main functions performed by the card. Also contains sections on interfaces, modes, memory, display standards, 3D video acceleration, full-motion video, and performance. This page is from "The PC Guide."
How To Build a Dual-Monitor System Dual-screen setups are relatively easy to implement, in part because the latest Windows versions recognize multiple monitors. What's more, modern graphics cards on desktop PCs typically include a standard VGA port and a digital video port--usually a DVI-I port--which can output either digital or analog video signals. Adding a second monitor involves no extra outlays beyond the cost of the second display.
