embedded object
Last modified: Sunday, September 01, 1996
An object created with one application and embedded into a document created by another application. Embedding the object, rather than simply inserting or pasting it, ensures that the object retains its original format. In fact, you can modify the embedded object with the original program. In Windowsenvironments, embedding objects is made possible by a technology called OLE.
