FED

Short for Field Emission Display, it is a flat-panel
display where a grid of electron emitters are controlled by cold cathodes to
generate color light. FEP technology combines
flat panel technology with the high quality of a CRT display but requires
less power than a CRT. This technology was first announced by Candescent
Technologies under the name "ThinCRT", but in 2004, Candescent filed for
bankruptcy. Presently PixTech, Inc. is one company using FED technology.
