Short for Internet Printing Protocol, an Internet protocol that allows universal solutions to users trying to print documents from the Internet. The protocol allows the user to:
find out about a printer's capabilities
submit print jobs to a printer
find out the status of a printer or a print job
cancel a previously submitted print job
IPP will be transferred using the HTTP/1.1 protocol because HTTP/1.1 has the ability to perform multiple transfers over a single TCP connection and because it is the most widely accepted protocol in the Internet marketplace.
