LRC
Last modified: Friday, September 23, 2005
Short for longitudinal redundancy check, it is an
error detection and checking method used to
verify the accuracy of stored or transmitted data. LRC works by generating a
parity bit from a specified string of bits on a
longitudinal track.
Error-Correcting & Error-Checking Codes The world was made a faster and safer place to be because of error-checking and error-correcting codes. A Reference by by Jason Downing & Jeffrey Nevinski.
IBM Bisync Block Checking Procedures In this method, both a Vertical Redundancy Check (character parity) and a Longitudinal Redundancy Check (block parity or horizontal parity) are performed. The VRC bit provides odd-parity for each character. The LRC provides odd-parity of each bit position of all characters in the block.
