Mandriva Linux, formerly called Mandrake Linux, is a full
Linux distribution created by Mandriva. It was initially was based on Red Hat
Linux and KDE. In 2004, the distribution was renamed from
Mandrake Linux became known as Mandrakelinux and a year later, in 2005, the
company's name changed to Mandriva, and the product would be renamed to Mandriva
Linux.
One main feature of Mandriva Linux is the Mandriva Control Center, which is
used to simplify some configuration settings. This includes settings for things
like mouse control, partitions, network copntrols and other options. Other
features of Mandriva include themes and urpmi, a package manager. The current
release is Mandriva 2008 Spring (2008.1).
