(1)(n.) A special code that causes a word processor or other application to advance to the beginning of the next line. A soft return is a return that the application inserts automatically when you reach the end of a line. A hard return is a return that you explicitly enter by pressing the Return or Enter key.
(2)(v.) When used in reference to search engines, to display the results of the searched information.
